IF YOU WANT TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS THIS IS THE LAND ROVER FOR YOU! I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN ENGLAND LAST YEAR FROM A LAND ROVER MECHANIC BUDDY OF MINE. HE REBUILT THIS TRUCK USING A NEW HD CHASSIS AND BODY PARTS FROM THE ORIGINAL 69 IIA AND PARTS FROM A SIII TO MAKE THE ULTIMATE ROVER. THE BULKHEAD AND DOORS ARE SIII THE REST IS EARLY IIA. THERE IS NO FILLER IN THE PANELS AND IT IS A VERY STRAIGHT TRUCK FOR ITS AGE. IT HAS AN ESSEX FORD V6 3.0L ENGINE THAT WAS REBUILT AND PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED. THE ENGINE PRODUCES 150 HP AND MAKES ONE FAST ROVER. THE ENGINE SITS MUCH FARTHER BACK IN THE ENGINE BAY SO THE STEERING IS VERY EASY, ALMOST LIKE POWER STEERING. IT HAS A WEBER DGV CARB ON IT WITH K&N AIR FILTER. THIS TRUCK ALSO HAS AN NEW GAS TANK. THE TRUCK RUNS GREAT AND FOR RHD IS EASY TO DRIVE AND SHIFT. IT DOES HAVE THE SII A TRANSMISSION SO FIRST AND SECOND GEAR ARE NON-SYNCHRONIZED. THE STEERING DOES NOT WONDER AT ALL! THE ONLY ODD THING I HAVE NOTICED WHEN DRIVING IT, IS AT AROUND 65 MPH THE TRUCK SHAKES A LITTLE, BUT NOT BELOW OR ABOVE THIS SPEED. AT 80 MPH IT IS AS SMOOTH AS A ONE TON LAND ROVER GETS. I SAY THIS BECAUSE IT IS A LITTLE BUMPY WHEN YOU HIT A BRIDGE OR ROUGH ROAD BUT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO MAINTAIN GOOD CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE SUSPENSION IS STIFF BUT RIDES FINE ( THE TRUCK RIDES BEST WITH A HEAVY LOAD IN THE BED FROM MY EXPERIENCE). I AM SELLING THIS 109 AS A PICKUP TRUCK, BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE I CAN CHANGE TOPS FOR YOU. FOR INSTANCE, I CAN EXCHANGE THE PICKUP TOP FOR A SOFT TOP FOR $900 BRAND NEW, OR I CAN INSTALL A HARD TOP WITH WINDOWS FOR AROUND THE SAME PRICE. JUST THINGS TO CONSIDER. I HAVE ENJOYED OWNING THIS ROVER BUT AS ALWAYS, I HAVE BIGGER AND WILDER PROJECTS IN MY FUTURE SO SOME LUCKY PERSON WILL GET ONE HECK OF A ROVER.
Vehicle Condition
Truck is in very good shape, inside and out. The tires have the same mileage as the new engine 2500 miles. The transmission was rebuilt at the same time as well. Since the gearing has been changed the speedometer is off by around 12 mph so when the gauge reads 60 you are going 72; the speedometer is very smooth. All other gauges work perfect. The interior is in very good shape. The brakes are all new and the truck stops much better than most series land rovers on account of having disc brakes in front. This is one heavy duty Land Rover. There are lots of new parts, more than I can count. It even has an electronic ignition. I removed the tropical top because it was so noisy. The truck rides much more quiet.
